Sabes must not be a Giant fan.
On the bright side, Sabean is gathering the greatest collection of players who were in their prime in 1997 since... well, since last year, really.
The greates team of role players playing every position, every day, of all time. At least he'll bring some youth to the team.
yWhat we also now have is the greatest collection of suspected former steroid users ever assembled. Aurilia, Bonds and Klesko combined to hit 140 home runs in 2001. What's the over/under on their combined 2007 total? 35? 40?
Is Sheffield acquirable?
I recognize this is a joke about both the oldishness and roidedness of the Sheff, but I can't resist an opportunity to share. SF actually tried to get him a few years ago. The short answer is, not for the Giants. I guess Bonds and Sheffield hate each other, or at least Sheff hates Bonds.

I like the part where Sheffield says, "He sold me out to the media," in the midst of a piece in which he spills his guts about Bonds.
